Canouan yacht guide — Sandy Lane marina, Soho Beach House and anchorages

Canouan sits in the middle of the Grenadines chain and pulls a very different crowd from Bequia or Union. Sandy Lane Yacht Club marina, the Mandarin Oriental (formerly Pink Sands Club) and Soho Beach House together make it the most polished island in the country, and yachts up to 90m regularly berth here in season.

For charter yachts the two options are the marina or the anchorages. Sandy Lane Yacht Club marina berths yachts from 15m upwards, with concierge, fuel, water, provisioning and customs on site. Rates in 2026 start around US $8 per foot per night for a 50ft yacht. Book ahead in high season — the marina fills for New Year and February half-term.

For guests who prefer the hook, Charlestown Bay on the west coast is the workhorse anchorage — 4–8m in sand, calm in the easterly trades, and a short dinghy ride to the marina and Grand Bay Beach Club. Corbay in the north is quieter, with better snorkelling off the point. Both work for a lunch stop en route between Mustique and Tobago Cays.

Ashore, day-guest access at the Mandarin Oriental beach club and Grand Bay is easy to arrange — ask your captain or us the day before. Soho Beach House is members-only, but member guests aboard get full access. The 18-hole Jim Fazio golf course welcomes visitors and is the best in the Caribbean by most reckonings.

Canouan works as a two-night stop on a ten-day itinerary or as a one-night polish break on a seven-night charter between Mustique and the Cays. It is not for everyone — the vibe is quieter and more resort than the rest of the Grenadines — but for guests who want a night in the marina with dinner ashore and a spa morning, nothing else in the chain compares.
