Petit St Vincent & Palm Island — private-island anchorages by yacht
Petit St Vincent (PSV) and Palm Island sit less than three miles apart at the southern end of the Grenadines chain, and between them offer the two most secluded overnight anchorages in the country. Both are private-island resorts, both welcome charter yachts, and both are easily added to a Union Island night on the way to or from Grenada.
Petit St Vincent is a 115-acre single-resort island — 22 cottages, no phones, no TVs, and a flag-based service system that has become part of the island's mythology. Anchor off the west beach in 4–8m of sand, well clear of the swimming area. Radio the resort on VHF 16 before going ashore. Dinner at the PSV Beach Bar and Grill is open to yacht guests with a reservation; expect US $110 per head for the set menu, plus a mooring fee if you use one of the resort's balls.
Palm Island, just west, is the sister feel — smaller (135 acres), all-inclusive resort with five beaches. Anchor off the north beach or pick up one of the resort moorings. Day passes for yacht guests run around US $150 per person and include the beach club, water sports, lunch and drinks — good value for a lazy day between Union and PSV. The resort ferry runs from Clifton for anyone flying in and joining the yacht here.
The best snorkelling in the southern Grenadines is on Mopion — the tiny palm-thatch sandbar between PSV and Petite Martinique. Dinghy across, anchor the tender in the lee, and swim the reef edge. Bring a camera; it is the postcard shot of the region.
For itinerary planning, PSV and Palm Island are best as the last night before checking out to Grenada, or as a quieter alternative to a second Tobago Cays night for guests who want space rather than the classic anchorage.
